Cedarhurst NY - The January 25, 1996 issue of Rolling Stone brought 100's of new volunteers to an already flourishing organization. Rock and Wrap it Up! has fed 600 000 people since its start in August, 1994. Organized through a volunteer food rescue force of 250 members, they offer all bands who tour the opportunity to make sure that the edible leftover food from their contract rider is designated to feed those who hunger in soup kitchens and shelters throughout the world.

Rock and Wrap it Up! is piloting a project with The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Peppers will talk about fighting world hunger in each stop of their tour and will encourage their fans to volunteer in local soup kitchens and shelters throughout America. Ozzy Osbourne and his tour have been giving food throughout their world tour and have also been collecting extra unused soaps and shampoos from hotels. They have already sent 600 items to the Claddagh INN soup kitchen in Queens NY. They were recently filmed by the News/Entertainment program Deco Drive, airing in New England and Florida.

Rock and Wrap it Up! is launching an 800 number for all Fortune 1000 corporations to use. We will contact CEO's and COO's and ask them to encourage their conference planners and large meeting organizers to contractually obligate food in every city they conduct their national meetings and conferences. Placing the phrase 'all edible leftovers will go to a local soup kitchen and shelter and Rock and Wrap it Up! will coordinate the pickup' in the contract, the food must be given to those in need and not thrown away. In conjunction with Viacom, this program will use Fortune 1000 companies to further implement the concept of contractual food obligation. The information which will be received will be forwarded to perishable food programs (PFP) throughout the United States. They will ensure that the donated food will reach those who hunger. The goal of offering timely commitments to the PFP will encourage more efficient pickups and better utilization of their resources.

As an extension to their work in the rock world, Rock and Wrap It Up! will begin encouraging film and commercial producers, directors and actors to contractually obligate their backlot edible leftover foods to local kitchens and shelters in the cities they film in.

Rock and Wrap It Up! is conducting a national fund-raising endeavor to help defray cost for their continuing programs.
