Rock and Wrap It Up! had an amazing 2015, adding new professional sport teams, film and television productions, colleges, schools (including Kingsport, TN and Guilford County Schools, NC), hospitals, and hotels. The White House recognized the importance of the Whole Earth Calculator and we are working with the White House Science Adviser to get new lesson plans to American Schools using the Whole Earth Calculator. We continue to work closely with the USDA and the EPA and continue to recognize partners for their participation in the effort to reduce food waste in our nation. Our efforts bring healthy food to those in need while keeping this healthy food out of landfill.
Jessie Plotkin joined us as National Asset Manager working out of Boulder, CO and Jocelyn Schreier joined us as Research Analyst working out of NYC.
Mardi Bra and Hannah’s Project were launched in NY at Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg, Brooklyn collecting and distributing feminine hygiene products to thousands of women in need. American Idol Finalist, Season 10, Robbie Rosen performed at the event. This project will launch nationally on February 9, 2016.
Rock and Wrap It Up! Volunteers made this a wonderful holiday season for many families in need at St. John Baptist Church in Arverne, NY. At the Rock and Wrap It Up! Thanksgiving Feast, your served over 500 plates of food to people in our community. Some of our guests needed more than the food served…they needed companionship on a holiday when most people in our country spend the day with family. You made the day less lonely for them. Some of our guests wanted to share their holiday meal with family members later in the day…you enabled them to do that also. Pantry bags were prepared so that guests would have more food later in the week as well. Some guests were unable to carry all of their packages home alone…you helped there as well by driving them to their homes.
For the Rock and Wrap It Up! Holiday Gift Give Away you collected and gift wrapped new toys to brighten the holiday for many families at the Woodmere Fire House in Woodmere, NY. Thousands of items were distributed to people in need at St. John Baptist Church.
You did all of this out of the kindness and generosity of your spirit and with respect for our fellow men, women, and children without asking why they were there and what caused them to be in a position of such need.
Thank you. You are role models for your community.
