The Wrapping Paper

Volume 3 Issue 3 December 1996

Flash! 10 000 pounds in one night. 25 000 fed!. Everyone wins on Election Night!!

Flash! BoDeans now part of RWU!

Flash! Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Happy New Year!

We welcome on board the BoDeans. We also thank Melissa Etheridge for rejoining us. We had an incredible month which took us to the heart of our government. Both Haley Barbour of the Republican National Committee and Don Fowler of the Democratic National Committee joined us on election night. They both wrote memos to their executive directors in every state to help fight hunger by giving us their leftovers. The real plan is staying in touch with your state's executive directors all year long. You have an incredible opportunity to expand Rock and Wrap it Up! in your state by following up with these powerful individuals.

We welcome new directors:

    * Houston TX: Angela Martin
    * Chicago IL: Lynne Mitchell

Our organization has gotten great exposure on the eastern and influential end of Long Island. Dan's Papers of the Hamptons wrote an important story encouraging the film and writing crowd on the East End of Long Island to fight hunger during the summer. Many banquets and other fund raisers are held every weekend and can potentially fed many of the local people in need. We will help them coordinate. We thank Dan Rattiner for the great article. Please use the media to help generate interest in your own programs, using Rock and Wrap it Up! national exposure. Growth is still occurring in our international market. The Hard Rock Cafe is piloting our program in their New York location. If it is successful, we will grow it in other internationals locations.

Special regards to all from Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. We met with him at a recent Roseland show. He related to us a story about how his wife, Susan Silver, would take leftovers from Guns and Roses shows in LA (when Soundgarden opened) and take the leftovers to shelters. He was so impressed to find an organization like ours, that they enlisted immediately upon hearing about us. All regional directors will receive a copy of the NBC's Real Life piece. If anyone else needs a copy please call.

Please call your promoters this month to thank them for support. Consider sending a 'Seasons Greetings' card or a letter on our letterhead. Bless you and your loved ones. Please accept my wishes for a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year!

Upcoming media coverage: The Osgoode File is slated to go on during Thanksgiving week on CBS radio. We will be featured in December's issue of PriceCostco magazine. Copies of this will be available for you to use with your new promoters. Good Housing Magazine will do a piece for their March 1997 issue.

Managers: please remember to include Rock and Wrap it Up! in any foundation or charity which your artist works with. We are a non-profit with a 501(C) 3 and really need the funding!
