Overview

Since 1991, we have partnered with over 150 bands that tour and include a stipulation in their contract requiring that food that is prepared but not served not go into landfill. We develop close relationships with bands that work with our development department.

Tactics

We meet with Band management and they are encouraged to both green their tour and put us in their contract language. A member of the tour is selected and acts as the contact for RWU agencies in the cities where the band performs. This allows for smoother recovery as security is tight at all venues. The larger tours generate about 100 meals per city for the recovering agencies.

Music Wrap! at Roseland Ballroom, NY

This video shows an example of how Music Wrap! works. Music Wrap! distributes prepared food from NY music venue, Roseland Ballroom, to the non-profit The Bowery Mission, who then feeds a great meal to appreciative, poverty-stricken New Yorkers. This food otherwise would have been thrown away!
